In an online post, the performer reminisced on the moments they spent while making the romantic drama.

“Each day during filming of The Way We Were proved exhilarating, deeply emotional and utterly joyful,” she expressed. “Our personalities contrasted greatly: he was from the world of horses; I was allergic to them! Nevertheless, we made an effort to understand each other as people, just like the figures in the film. He had magnetic charm, intelligent, deeply passionate, constantly engaging—and one of the finest actors ever. The last time I saw him, when he came to lunch, we talked about creativity and decided to send each other our first drawings. He was truly unique and I feel deeply thankful for having the chance to collaborate alongside him.”

A Lasting Legacy

The acclaimed love story the movie achieved both praise and popularity featuring Streisand’s signature tune rising to become a popular success and being nominated for an Oscar nomination.

This moving homage adds to numerous from Hollywood and beyond after Redford’s death. The esteemed actress, who shared the screen with him in Out of Africa and Lions for Lambs, stated, “A great spirit has left us. May he find peace dear friend.”

The acclaimed actress and activist, who appeared with Redford in multiple films such as their famous comedy, commented: “I was deeply affected this morning that his passing. It’s deeply emotional. He was important in my life and was a beautiful person in every way. He advocated for a set of ideals that must be preserved.”

An influential public personality released a photograph featuring them together, adding the caption: “He fought for meaningful causes including nature preservation and cultural inclusivity while fostering chances for upcoming artists of storytellers and changemakers. A true American icon.”
